California Man Drowns in Colorado River After Jumping for Hat

Kristopher Nathaniel Logan, 26, from California, was on a rented pontoon boat with friends near Davis Camp in Mohave County, Arizona, when the incident occurred. His hat reportedly blew off the boat, and he jumped into the river to retrieve it. Logan then struggled to swim and did not resurface, prompting emergency calls.
Emergency crews responded Monday morning, and a dive team later recovered Logan's body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that Logan was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the accidental drowning.
Officials are urging all Colorado River users, including those from California who frequent the popular waterway, to wear recommended personal protective equipment such as life jackets. This incident serves as a somber reminder of water safety importance, even for those who consider themselves strong swimmers.
