Carney says Canadians trust his plan after he wins majority

Prime Minister Carney stated that Canadian voters have demonstrated trust in his government's plan following the Liberal Party's recent gains. The party won all three by-elections held on Monday, adding to five opposition members who previously defected to the Liberal Party over the past year. This shift gives the Liberals 174 of the 343 seats, providing Carney more latitude to pursue his political agenda.Carney's agenda focuses on boosting Canada's economy, particularly in light of its trade relationship with the United States. He is also expected to deliver on domestic promises, including investments in housing construction, national defense, and positioning Canada as an "energy superpower." Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre criticized Carney, suggesting the majority was gained through defections, which he called "power without any accountability."
