Ex-keeper Manninger dies after car hit by train in Austria

Alex Manninger, a respected figure in European football, passed away following a collision between his car and a train. The incident took place at a level crossing in Salzburg, his hometown, where he began his professional career with Red Bull Salzburg.
Manninger's career spanned 14 teams across Europe, including notable stints with Juventus and Liverpool. He is particularly remembered for his time at Arsenal from 1997 to 2002, where he played a crucial role in the 1997-98 season, helping the team secure both the Premier League and FA Cup. His professionalism and reliability were highlighted by Peter Schottel, sporting director of the Austrian Football Association, who described him as an outstanding ambassador for Austrian football.
