GB's Cairess Out of London Marathon with Calf Injury

Emile Cairess, a prominent British marathon runner, will not compete in the 2026 London Marathon. The 28-year-old athlete cited a persistent calf injury that has hampered his training. Cairess expressed his disappointment, stating he only wants to be on the start line in the best possible condition, which he is not currently due to the injury sustained earlier in his training block.
Cairess finished third in the 2024 London Marathon and holds the third-fastest British marathon time, achieved in Valencia in December. He was also forced to miss the 2025 London race due to an ankle tendon issue. The London Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, April 26.
