Husband of US Woman Missing in Bahamas Released, Vows to Continue Search

Brian Hooker was released on Monday night after being questioned by Bahamian officials regarding the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker. The couple, from Michigan, were on a sailing trip on the evening of April 4 when Lynette went missing from an 8ft hard-bottom dinghy. Hooker stated his wife fell off the boat along with its keys and was swept away by currents, leaving him unable to reach her. He has consistently denied any suggestion of wrongdoing.

Hooker, 59, expressed his determination to continue searching, telling CBS he believes his wife is still alive. He cited instances of people surviving for days or weeks after falling overboard in the Bahamas due to numerous islands and sandbars. However, Lynette Hooker's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has voiced skepticism about her stepfather's account, noting her mother's strong swimming abilities and extensive sailing experience.

A US Coast Guard official previously confirmed that a criminal investigation has been opened into Lynette Hooker's disappearance. Bahamian police had arrested Brian Hooker on April 8 for questioning, and the search and rescue efforts for Lynette Hooker have since been reclassified as a recovery mission.
