Vote to stop Iran war fails in US Senate again as Democrats vow to keep trying

The resolution sought to halt US military action in Iran without explicit congressional approval, a power outlined in the 1973 War Powers Resolution. This federal law requires congressional approval for military actions extending beyond 60 days, with a potential 30-day extension by the White House for national security reasons. The US-Israel strikes began on February 28.
While most Republicans have consistently blocked these resolutions, some have indicated they might reconsider their vote if the conflict continues beyond the current month. Senator Rand Paul was the only Republican to vote with Democrats on this measure. Democrats emphasize their intent to continue proposing the resolution, aiming to clarify each lawmaker's position on the conflict for the American public.
