Watch: Moment gunman tackled by school principal

The incident unfolded on April 7 at Pauls Valley High School in Oklahoma when former student Victor Hawkins entered the premises and discharged a firearm. CCTV footage shows Principal Kirk Moore immediately charging toward Hawkins and tackling him to the ground. Another staff member quickly arrived to assist, successfully removing the gun from the assailant's hand.
Principal Moore sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the confrontation but has since been discharged from the hospital. Hawkins was arrested on the scene and now faces multiple charges, including two counts of pointing a firearm, one count of shooting with intent to kill, and two counts of unlawful carrying. While this event occurred outside of California, school safety remains a critical concern for communities nationwide, including Ridgecrest.
